at old jobs, when i started to hate them, i'd say asap, but i'd also throw in some hyperbolic comparisons as well. like: "i need this done asap or pretty much the world is going to end". it still doesnt tell you when you need it done by, but it leaves the other person freaking out about it, and gets them hating their job as much as you hate yours.
thats about the time you know its time to find a new job :)
